Overlooking El Capitolio, Eusebio Lael remodeled and refurbished his Hotel Saratoga in 2005, and it has since become one of the top five-star hotels in Havana. Elegant neo-classical architecture and detail, Hotel Saratoga is also top of the line in terms of its location - perfect for exploring Old Havana. The 603 rooms are beautifully decorated, with very high ceilings, charming colonial decoration and enormous bathrooms. The staff is gracious and very accommodating, treating guests as if they own the place. Raoul, the concierge, is particularly helpful. Go upstairs to the rooftop pool for a great view of the Havana skyline and a great suntan. The restaurant is good, by Cuban standards, and serves excellent lunches in the bar area.

Adjacent to the Plaza de Armas, the Santa Isabella is a three-story colonial-style inn/boutique hotel, housed in a striking 18th century palace and replete with a stunning indoor garden and a relaxing, laid-back lounge. It was once the home of a very influential count. First opened in 1867, Santa Isabella has maintained its charm. Its decadence conveys the essence of Old Havana, providing visitors a glimpse of the exotic aura of Cuba's history, architecture, culture, and art. The Santa Isabella offers superb panoramic views of some of Havana’s most important monuments - Fortalezas, La Giraldilla, and the historical Palacio de los Capitanes Generales. Former guests include United States President, Jimmy Carter, Jack Nicholson, and Pope John Paul II. All 27 rooms are luxurious yet comfortable, featuring a large balcony overlooking the square. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and they are happy to help with any questions or problems you may have.

History and pride ooze from every room and corner of the beautiful Hotel Nacional de Cuba. Built in 1930 and renovated in 1962, the 472-room monumental hotel has maintained its beauty. The lobby is extravagant and stunning, with gorgeous ornamental tiles and sculptures. The rooms are simple yet elegant, and the views are incredible. In addition, Parisian Cabaret, one of the most popular (and best) nightclubs in Havana is housed in the hotel.

Hotel Florida was built in 1836 to provide living accommodations for renowned families and businessmen. Lael renovated and restored the colonial-style residence, which has been converted into a charming and beautiful boutique hotel. Hotel Florida is centrally located - just a few steps from the Plaza de Armas, on Calle Obispo amongst various shops, galleries, and museums. The rooms are comfortable and the service is great. Moreover, its historical ambiance gives guests an opportunity to appreciate the charm of Cuba’s past.
