A wide range of themes and mediums are utilized to create the breathtaking work that has become known as Cuban export art, meaning that art itself, is becoming an important economic means for Cuba: It creates much-needed fiscal support for both the artists and the government. Tourists enter the galleries and are so moved by a piece or collection that they have to have it. Thus, galleries have come to serve two purposes: exhibitioner and vendor. Sometimes the gallery building itself is seen as art. Centuries old mansions have been transformed into breathtaking gallery spaces with beautiful patios and serene ambiances.
